Remember Black Wall Street and Others
Tenacious aboriginal indigenous people of today are rebuilding from all of the theft and destruction caused by colonists and their current day descendants. Like our ancestors, we are still fighting for fairness; we are highly determined, persistent, and unwilling to give up or let go. The “Black Owned Business Online (BOBO)” Directory is one means of many to “Keep on Steppin”. Case in point, like so many other racists massacres against us, on May 31 and June 1, 1921, mobs of white/European occupiers, that call themselves American, attacked Indigenous black residents, homes, and businesses, as well as cultural and public institutions in the Greenwood District of Tul

Greenwood was also known as "Black Wall Street," one of the wealthiest communities in the United States. As a result of this attack, thirty-five blocks were systematically looted and burned, destroying 190 businesses and leaving 10,000 people homeless. The property loss estimated by the Tulsa Real Estate Exchange was the equivalent of $31 million in 2017, likely an underestimation. As expected by the colonizers; no insurance claims were honored for the indigenous Americans in the Greenwood District, and according to the Red Cross reporting, by July 1921, there were lawsuits filed with claims over $4 million, which would be worth over $60 million today.
